So many things I didn’t think of when I started this adventure, early on Bob told me I was just like our mail lady neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night. Except mail persons get sick or injured and well lets be honest, there is someone ready to jump in and deliver for them in hopes of someday getting their very own route.
I’m sick, sicker than I’ve been in a very long time, sick enough that after critter care (that’s what I call it) in the morning yesterday, I had Bob take me to the ER and the whole time I was worried it was pneumonia and they’d want to keep me, I’m glad I went though, turns out I have a really bad case of bronchitis, fluid in both ears, swollen glands, raw throat. I was prescribed 2 inhalers, antibiotics, instructions to steam shower twice a day and come back if I’m not starting to feel better in a few days.
The difference between mail persons and livestock farmers is there’s no one to fill in for you, your animals depend on you and even if you have someone who can care for them in a pinch, it’s upsetting for them because they want you, they need you and your routine that you taught them. No one can do it exactly the way you do. I’m their person, part of me is still wondering what I was thinking, the other part is smiling.
